Ohhhh, my. Texas was good to us.
Sophie and I packed our bags and took off across the United States in a bright-ass blue rental (she still talks about this car!) I had EXPERTLY packed snacks into a cooler. I was not going to fall prey to the gas station snack carnage that always ensues when you don’t prepare. Nothing wrong with the pizza combos, y’all. Your girl was just not feeling the for-seen bill directed by my 3-year-old’s wishes. We hit the road, excited about our 13 hour adventure into Photography heaven.
17 hours later… we made it 😅
Okay, now… the reason I am telling you all of this is because this trip was a BIG moment for me. I had NEVER met Sara in person. We met virtually when she became the first-ever guest on Wisdom by Design: The Podcast I co-created last year with insanely talented Graphic Designer, Kam Davis. You can actually view the whole episode HERE. Thanks to those shenanigans, Sara and I became pretty fast soul mates. So, the fact that I was driving to Texas to meet this human IN REAL LIFE, was a dream come true.
The fact that I got to PHOTOGRAPH HER - is a whole other story. This girl is a beast. If she wasn’t cracking me the hell up, or showing off her dance moves, she was yelling Megan Thee Stallion lyrics at the top of her lungs in Austin’s streets. Could we be any more perfect for each other?! She showed me around the great city, treated me to some of the best eats, local brews and a latte that I deem QVEEN. I think about that velvety cup often. Thanks for existing, Ovenbird. I grabbed one more on my way out of Austin and tried to not cry into the cup.
Any way, Some of my faves are below. You will see us at Ovenbird, Meet Diesel. the bestest boy & of course, Sara :)
The coolest person and Boss. Oh… yeah, I walked away from this shoot with memories, a new love for Austin and a freakin’ job with one of the nations leading Web Design & Business Strategy Experts… Freakin’ Sara!!!! Yeah, My mouth fell open, too. I am the proud Digital Production Manager of 99 & St. Claire. She has not only given me killer portraits to display in my portfolio, but a career providing web design support to leaders making an impact in their communities.
You’re the Shit, Sara!
Big Love, Jess
